Namasthe to the voiceofchittan readers
I'm Dr. Swetha Thiruchanuru. Today, I want to share another important reflection, one that comes from lived observation or experience, not theory
In many situations, when you achieve something or feel genuinely happy, you realize that very few people are interested in celebrating it with you. At best, there may be one or two. Sometimes, even their sincerity feels doubtful.
This is a hard truth, but a real one.
We often expect:
“Someone will appreciate this success.”
“Someone will share this happiness with me.”
But reality teaches us something else.
No one carries your happiness for you.
No one truly holds your sadness for long.
And that is why self-celebration is not a luxury; it is a life skill.
Self-celebration is not ego.
It is not arrogance.
It is not showing off.
It is self-respect.
It is self-acknowledgment &
It is emotional maturity.
Think about the journey behind every achievement...
the sleepless nights, silent fears, self-doubt, pressure, comparisons, and inner battles. Very few people stay beside you through that process. But you do. Every single day.
So when you reach a milestone, you must be the one to tell yourself:
“Well done. You earned this.”
An important realization in life:
People are mostly busy managing their own priorities and struggles. They are fighting their own battles. Your happiness rarely ranks high on their list..and that is not cruelty; it is human nature.
The moment you accept this, life becomes lighter.
What does self-celebration look like?
• Acknowledging a small win
• Taking a quiet coffee or walk just for yourself
• Writing one honest line in your journal
• Smiling at yourself in the mirror
• Saying, “I’m proud of myself”, silently but sincerely
Even if no one applauds,
your soul deserves to.
Another uncomfortable truth:
People who truly understand your pain are rare.
People who can enjoy your happiness without envy are even rarer.
So reduce expectations.
Strengthen self-connection.
When you learn self-celebration:
• You stop chasing validation
• Emotional independence grows
• Disappointments lose their grip
• Confidence builds quietly, deeply
A final thought:
Become your own best companion.
Give yourself permission to be happy.
Create your own stage for success.
Because in the end
You are here.
Your journey is real.
Your growth matters.
That alone is worth celebrating.
Be positive and Spread Positive. 😇😇
With ❤❤
